Practice!

Did you love the 10 bead challenge?  You started with them, but did you go on to make other beads after those 10 were made? Did it kick start your flow? If you enjoyed that exercise, I invite you to head over to check out Heather Trimlet’s 40 Bead Challenge!  She has a pdf reprint of the article in Soda Lime Times where she explains the challenge!

Do something

Baby beads!  If you have a block just do something. As Marie Forleo says, “Clarity comes from engagement”. If you are a writer you write something. If you are a painter, you paint. If you are a glass artist, you melt glass. Let’s make 10 baby beads today! I invite you to post pics of your baby beads!

If you make the beads and decide you’d like to do something really special with them, you could donate them to Beads of Courage!  You will be brightening the day of a child who are being supported through a serious illness.

Generosity is a great way to support creativity!  When you give to others it opens you up to seeing what the world has for you!  Make something, give it away, and open up to the flow of creativity!

Joy!

Do you make time to do the things that bring you joy?  Do you know what brings you joy? We often spend so much time doing what we have to do, or doing things for other people that we can find ourselves feeling weighed down and not sure why.

Feeling weighed down does not set you up for feeling creative.  Taking time each week to do something that brings you joy, just because it brings you joy can lighten your load.  It helps you to get in touch with you on a great level.  Helping others is great! It can even bring us joy. Taking care of yourself is also great, and can bring you joy, too!  Try it!

Make a list of 15 things you find joy in doing.  I recommend you build that list to at least 30 things, over time, but you can start with 15. A “Joy List” can remind you of the things that bring you joy so you can do the more often. Try to have some that cost money and some that don’t.  I’ll share some of the items off my list…

  • Going to the beach
  • cuddling with my daughters
  • Fresh flowers
  • Pedicures
  • Walking in the woods
  • Laying in the snow after a big storm, listening to how silent the world has become.

I invite you to share a couple items off your list, too!

Unwinding

Let’s talk about sleep!  A well rested brain is more creative. It has the extra energy needed to think outside the box and find new solutions. How are you sleeping? Here is the first of a couple tips for getting better sleep that I’m going to share this month…Get off the screens 1/2 before bed. The light from the screen confuses your brain.  Switch over to reading, cleaning beads, coloring*, something on your joy list.  You may find those activities encourage creativity more than the activities you normally do with the screens anyway!

* Need a coloring book? Fellow glass artist, Lori Goldberg is creating great coloring books.  You can buy at the links below.

Believe you are Creative!

Believe you are Creative!  I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, “If you believe you can, you can.  If you believe you can’t, your right” based on the quote by Henry Ford.  Believing in anything will get you at least halfway there!  When we were children we believed!  We believed in our creativity.  We believed we were princesses, super heros, and we believed we could do anything!

We learned through our experiences with others to hold back our creativity to keep it safe, and not let it out to be criticized, misunderstood, or devalued in many other ways.  It is in keeping our creativity safe that we have squelched it!

It’s time to remember that you were born into this world a creative being, and that you are still creative.  Play along with me…write the words “I am creative!” on a 3×5 card and post it someplace prominent.  Remind yourself you are creative and watch your creative self emerge from where you placed it all those years ago!

I invite you to share a picture of your 3×5 card or share with us where you will be hanging it! Here is mine!

A Creative December

Welcome to December!  The last month of the year, this is the month we often reflect on last year, and start looking forward to the new year.  I thought it would be fun to spend this month focusing on creativity.  As glass artists, we want creativity to show up in our artistic lives, for sure!  I know I want creativity to also show up in other areas of my life.  I want to use creative energy to be the change I want to see in the world. I want to use my creativity to find solutions in my life and the life of those I care about.  I want creative solutions for so many people, places and situations in the world!

I want to see sparks of creativity growing in every person I meet.  Sparks that will ignite into a beautiful world filled with light!  The kind of light that brings people together, and brings peace to this world.

Let’s take our creativity up a notch! Join me each day in December for ideas on creativity, including ways to increase yours, and inspire it in others!

What do you think of when you hear the word creative?

New Website

DSC_0563

Zoozii’s has a great new website!  We have had the same site for over 10 years, and it had become dated and disjointed.  It needed more than a little updating!  I reached out to many of you last year to see where we can improve our business, I was excited with how in sync the responses were.  The core ideas were:

  • Changes to the shopping functions on the site would be helpful.
  • More pics that gave a clearer example of the finished project and more dimensions.
  • The quality and usability of our tools were raved about, so no improvement needed there!
  • We had a couple suggestions for ship times, but overall that was still really spot on and you were happy.

Armed with that valuable information (Thank you to everyone who replied!  I hope you enjoyed your thank you gift), I set out to explore our options, and then move everything over.

We have moved to a new platform and the change has provided a much cleaner, visually pleasing and functional shopping experience!  Moving the products myself allowed me to insure that each listing had all the necessary components to make shopping easy!

  • Images (there are a few more to come)
  • Measurements
  • Descriptions
  • Links to tutorials (more of those are coming too)
  • Mandrel information and modification options

It’s easy to shop!  The platform is robust with many options for additional features, which we are exploring, so you can expect more fun in the future.

For now, you can head on over and see the direction we are headed in and let me know in the comments here what you love most!  Thank you for your continued support of our family owned and operated business.  We strive to give you the highest quality lampwork tools, providing you with the canvas for your artwork!
